Bobbi Brown / Sep 15, 2011
Backstage at Rachel Roy

For her Spring 2012 collection, Rachel Roy was inspired by women in Saigon in the 1920s. Looking at the clothes, I instantly thought of using rose gold—a pretty rose with flecks of gold. The end result was a modern look that I’m calling feminine metal.

Because rose gold has pink tones, it can make some eyes look tired. If you decide to try this look at home, make sure that you wear enough under eye concealer, dark liner and plenty of mascara to brighten and open up your eyes. -BB

Well, I just learned three new things: 1. I NEED the rose gold collection. Now! 2. Layer two different BB mascaras for a special effect. 3. The BB look for spring 2012 is “feminine/metal” – beautiful and attainable.

I would like to know why the Bobbi Brown sales people in the department stores didn’t mention Rose Gold to me. I was just (a few days ago) in Nordstrom in Old Orchard, Skokie looking for a new lip gloss because you have discontinued Garnet Shimmer and then Metallic Berry, last 2 I have used and was quite frantic to find something new. You say it looks good on anyone, but no one directed me to Rose Gold.

I also think that for a YouTube presentation that may be seen by millions, I would not lick the brush (as you did) before putting it on someone’s eyelid. I wouldn’t want anyone (even Bobbi Brown) doing that to me.

Bobbi, you just keep making things I have to have and the new Rose Gold Collection is a must. I’m really looking forward to the Uber Beige Pot Rouge, especially. I use only BB blushes and the pot rouges are my favorite. Can’t wait!

So pretty! I love the idea of a rose gold collection. I know what I’m going to watch out for…And the look is so easy to apply it seems. Bobbi is always fun to watch.

I, too, am super excited about the new pot rouge color!!! This collection looks lovely…looking forward to the rose gold shimmer brick as well ;D

@Elizabeth: Out of curiosity, I re-watched the video and, just to clarify, Bobbi DID NOT lick the brush before applying makeup to the model’s lids…she quickly blew off excess shimmer brick that may have sprinkled onto her cheek bones. I do that myself to avoid any excess eyeliner or eyeshadow from falling on my face. I don’t know of anyone that would be that unsanitary, lol!

Quite right, she blew the excess off. I initially thought she licked the brush and watched it again. That said, tapping is the safest way to rid of excess flecks on the brush. The Rosegold collection seems very intriguing.

So…. when can we expect the Rose Gold collection? Is this for the spring of 2012? I am very excited, since it looks gorgeous. Of course, everything Bobbi does is refined, elegant and gorgeous.
