I’m lucky to come from a family full of Pretty Powerful women. From my sister to my aunt to my grandmother, I grew up with an amazing, built-in support system of ladies who encouraged me throughout the years. (That’s my mother in the American flag headscarf!)
These women inspired me, and now in my work with Dress for Success, I get to help inspire others.
Take a look, then head over to our Pretty Powerful site. Tell me your own secrets to beauty and confidence for a chance to win a trip to New York and a feature in my next campaign. You can also vote for others all across the country who’ve already shared what makes them Pretty Powerful. -BB

My daughter inspires me to be pretty powerful. Being a single mom is not ever easy. But my daughter keeps me wanting to do my best and to be my very best every single day. I want to be the very best example for her. She is an amazing young woman who inspires me and just about everyone who comes in contact with her!

as a thyroid cancer survivor, i have learned to allow others to figuratively “slap me in the face” when i start to think the worst…i have found power in accepting help when i have spent much of my life being the one in control..allowing myself to accept help through this journey, rather than making me feel less powerful, actually does quite the opposite..to be able to “not know how to do everything” is a sign of wisdom and offers a chance to be powerful even in times of fear and despair…

I recommend everyone when you get a chance to watch the Bobbi Brown Biography. I am almost sure I watched it on Lifetime. It was so inspirational to me, that I ended up launching a career dream that always seemed so far off. I open my own Salon and Spa.

Not to sound conceited my no means, but I feel I make myself feel #PrettyPowerful. I am so grateful that in today’s society when people try to tear you down and make you feel insecure and give you their definition of success and beauty, that I am able to believe in the goals and uniqueness about myself and know that I am Pretty Powerful by my own standards and noone else’s. High self esteem and self confidence are two traits that I feel are not as common and easy to come by as people may think, and as the older I get and more females and young ladies I come into contact with I see that so many of them struggle with these aspects in life, even the ones that may appear to have it all together to the eye. With that said, regardless of all the trials and tribulations I endure, I am still able to look within and Know that I am Pretty Powerful and can have the ability to help someone else share the same feeling.

I have been surrounded by the most amazing women in my life…. it started with my Great-Grandmother who became a citizen at age 91. She was so proud when she received the right to vote. My Grandmother, when she died, was called a ‘saint’ by our minister. She made it thru the Depression and loosing her son to cancer. Cancer eventually took her life but long after she left her stamp on my life. Her sister was the first to have breast cancer but, my husband said, if he ever left me for another woman it would have been her. Talk about a May-December couple – lol! My Mother is my best friend – I can tell her EVERYTHING! She supports every thought out decision I make, often offering some guidance. My father told her to leave and take me with her. We moved in with my Grandparents. My Grandmother and Mother raised me in a good, Christian home. I learned to love the Lord and how to live a productive life. Breast cancer also attacked myself and my Mother, respectively. We beat it because we’re too mean to let it survive in us. Now I have a new inspiration…. my 15 year old daughter. In her I see life in a new way and it’s so much more beautiful. I cannot begin to describe the way she impacts my life – I want to be a better person. Woman was God’s gift to man but they have been God’s gift to me.

I was raised by smart, funny, strong women and an incredible father and some uncles and family friends. I cringe a bit when Hillary says it takes a village, because I wonder if she was sitting on a stoop, being taught to knit by a teen neighbor. I always sold products I made but now have a vegan handbag business. When I get sad, tired or annoyed, I think of all the people who told me I am great, then I get happy and keep moving! http://www.pippihepburn.com
