On November 18th, my talented make-up artists in California created a strong and beautiful look for the Donna Karan Fashion Show at the Dream Foundation’s 10th annual Celebration of Dreams.
The foundation, which funds last wishes and dreams for adults with terminal illness, was honoring Donna Karan with a Founders Award for her work establishing the Urban Zen Integrative Therapies program at UCLA medical hospital. The program trains medical personnel in holistic Eastern healing techniques that are used to calm, restore and relax patients, treating them on every level.
Donna hoped her collection would inspire “conscious consumerism” in which customers would “buy a product that can change a life.” The look on the runway was urban ethnic chic- sundresses, gowns and tops in shades of brown, black and white with stark, swirling tribal patterns.1

To complement the strong collection, my artists designed a strong face led by bold eyebrows and deep brown lips. They kept brows full and swept Champagne Shimmer Wash Shadow across the eyelids to draw light to the eyes. For a healthy and natural look, they warmed up the skin with Bronzing Powder and highlighted cheeks with Beige Shimmer Brick.
To re-create the dramatic lip seen here, try filling in the lip with Dark Chocolate Lip Liner and patting Chocolate Lip Color on top to create a matte espresso lip.

Many thanks to our talented artists, Nicole Maynard, Kimberly Smith, Regina Penn, Jasmine Neske, Christine Helmbrecht – and congrats to Donna Karan for putting on an amazing show.
