Something Extra

There’s something about New York in January that’s a little bleak.  Between the grey slush and blustery cold, I find myself wanting to hibernate until spring.  It’s a time of year that can be tough on skin. If you’ve ever spent a few hours outdoors in the dead of winter, you know what I mean.

This past weekend, after clearing the driveway of the snow that came unexpectedly, I was happy to have some Extra balm for my wind-burned skin.

Most of my products start with a moment of inspiration and back story – and the Extra story starts in Telluride, CO.  While on a family vacation there a few years ago, I noticed that my skin felt really dry despite the fact that I’d slathered it in my go-to face cream.  I was so desperate that I considered putting olive oil on my face.  I realized that I had skincare for everyday, but what about the cold winter months or when you’re traveling and you need a bit more?

While in the car on the way home from the slopes, I was thinking out loud about what we could call this amazing, extra-moisturizing skincare. My son Cody, rosy-cheeked in the backseat of the car, said: “Why not just call it Extra?”

Extra Skincare—a collection of super moisturizing balms—launched in 2001 and they were an instant hit. I knew I had a winner when magazine editors and celebrities were calling, begging for some balm. This year, I’ve taken Extra to the next level by adding intensive anti-aging benefits to my Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm and Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm SPF 25.

Skin gets drier as we get older and it tends to droop downward, too.  These balms instantly plump skin up with intensive moisture and also offer incredibly effective repair over time. In other words, your skin will look better instantly, but it will also become fresher, smoother, and firmer over time.

If you want to skip a step in your morning routine- try combining your foundation and moisturizer by using either SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm or the Extra Repair Foundation SPF 25.

Have you tried the Extra Repair? I’d love to hear when and where you use it most.

xo,

Bobbi

I sure did try your Extra products, I even asked a friend of mine to bring the Extra repair foundation to The Netherlands, since it wasn’t sold here at that time. Love it and I’ve received the Extra Balm rinse a while ago, which has become one of my favorites! We’re going to have some cold days ahead, so I’m trusting on the Extra repair foundation to keep my skin soft and nourished! Love you!

A salesgirl at Macy’s in Pgh gave me a sample of Extra skin cleanser a few years ago and I can’t live without it! My sensitive, fair Irish skin loves it! I’m 52 yrs old and get dry areas and tight skin after cleansing, especially in the winter. I use this and my skin feels so soft and nourished. I often will put it on my face before bed and use it as a moisturizer too! (another tip from the salesgirl!) Thank you, Thank you! Your products are amazing!

My almost 52 year old skin has been especially dry this winter. I saw a posting of yours on Facebook about the Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm and had to try it! Off to my favorite Bobbi Brown make up counter. What a difference a week makes! My face looks and feels totally different. The lovely woman who helped me told me to warm it up in my hands and j press it into my skin. Just another fabulous product in my large collection of Bobbi Brown. Thank you!

Would like to try a sample of the Extra moisturizing. I am almost 80 years old and have very dry skin……and yes it is starting to sag a bit. Although we live in Florida and do not extreme cold my skin still gets very dry.

I need help and there is not a Bobbie Brown retailer in Gainesville, Fl .

I have been using the extra tinted moisturizing balm 25 for years! I love it! Winters in Chicago are harsh on the skin. This moisturizer leaves my face dewy while it protects it from the elements. What about a balm for hands?

I haven’t tried the Extra range but I will soon! I love your Lip Balm SPF15. I use it a lot, especially during winter here in Australia. Is there any chance you’ll be producing it in stick form? Like a chapstick or a lipstick?
