My Biggest Fan

Cutest story ever: Madison Brandt first reached out to me a year and a half ago, when she and her mom tried to enter a Mother/Daughter contest at a Bobbi Brown counter in Roseville, Minnesota. Unfortunately, Madison was too young to be eligible at the time, but because I was so impressed by the passionate letter she wrote pleading her case, I sent her a Beauty Rules makeup palette and book to show my admiration.

This past winter, I was pleased to hear from Madison again—this time, to interview me for an assignment for her seventh grade honors English class. The teacher had asked the students to select someone who has impacted the world and Madison chose me. Of course, I was super flattered and we set up a phone interview ASAP. Madison proved to be quite an adept reporter (move over, Barbara Walters) and came thoroughly prepared with a long list of thought-provoking questions.

In her final essay, Madison took the creative liberty of setting the scene to a ladies lunch in my favorite restaurant, Balthazar. Madison was so thorough, she even researched their menu to decide what we would have eaten (her, a beet salad and me, a chicken paillard). Needless to say, Madison got an A+ on her report, which I am excited to share here with you. Madison is one of my biggest fans—and Madison, I’m one of yours too! - XO, Bobbi
