On the heels of my time in Paris, I spent three days in London continuing the celebrations for my brand’s 20th anniversary.
My trip kicked off with a lunch I had the honor of attending a lunch hosted by his excellence Mr. Louis B. Susman, the U.S. Ambassador to the U.K., his wife Mrs. Marjorie Susman, and the editor in chief of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman, in recognition of the 20th anniversary of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. It took place at the ambassador’s residence – Winfield House in Regents Park – which was incredibly beautiful. It was hard to believe it was right in the middle of London – the grounds were so lush and went on as far as the eye could see.
I dressed in head-to-toe black (shirt, pants and heels), but I made my outfit ‘pop’ with a purple L’Wren Scott-designed sweater, which was not only chic and elegant, but also incredibly comfortable. I wore my hair down and kept my makeup and jewelry simple so that the sweater would really make a statement.
Over 50 influential guests, including movers and shakers from the worlds of fashion, beauty, music and film attended and I was thrilled to meet all of them. Guests included fashion designer L’Wren Scott, Bond girl Gemma Arterton, Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright, models Laura Bailey and Yasmin and Amber Le Bon, heiress Jasmine Guinness, TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, singer Eliza Doolittle, and hair guru Sam McKnight.
Prior to lunch, the Ambassador, his wife, and Alexandra all toasted the brand’s anniversary, which was such a thrill. Guests were then treated to private tours of the residence’s impressive modern American art collection, including works by Jasper Johns and Mark Rothko. I especially loved seeing the contrast between the home’s interior design – which was very traditional– and the progressive art that adorned the walls and the grounds.
It was an afternoon I’ll remember forever. -BB
