The 2012 Summer Olympic Games are upon us—in my crush-city, London, no less. I couldn’t be more excited!
Here’s the thing: I am a total health nut and the Olympics is the pinnacle of human athleticism. The physical and mental boundaries those athletes push themselves to, are nothing short of inspiring. Plus, I just get giddy watching all those people from around the globe file into the opening ceremony—so many nationalities and faces and skin tones all in one place. Talk about Pretty Powerful.
As you know from the blog, it’s been The Year of Healthy Giving around the Bobbi Brown offices—365 days dedicated to eating right and staying active. During the holidays, I gifted all my colleagues Nike certificates for a pair of athletic shoes. Needless to say, we’ve got a lot of in-house athletes at Bobbi Brown. And while they may not be heading to London this summer, to me, they are just as inspiring year-round.

Our Summer Intern, Claire Fitzgerald winds up her killer softball pitch—she’s been playing since she was 5 years old so watch out! (Too bad this year’s Olympics was the first to drop the sport. To that we say: BOO!); Melissa Tam, BB’s Global Supply Chain Manager, was an avid football player until a knee injury redirected her end zone to the slopes for a smoother snowboard ride; and our Social/Digital Creative Producer, Megan Smith, slipped on a pair of kickboxing gloves instead of hitting the treadmill and is now throwing swings like a champ.

Here, Caitlin Costello, our Assistant Manager of North America Marketing, poses with her kickball league team (love the orange t-shirts!). After each game, Caitlin says, the teams hang out at a sponsored bar and a portion of the proceeds go to charity! How cool is that?
One of my favorite things to see, in fact, is whenever athletes call out our Long-Wear Collection as a must-have for their gym and makeup bags. I was thrilled to see Jessica Ennis, a UK track and field 2012 Olympian, say she was a fan recently in the pages of InStyle.

Marie Claire also suggested Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner was an Olympic beauty secret alongside their feature on UK track cyclist, Victoria Pendleton.

And last winter, Lindsey Vonn, the alpine skier and four-time winner of the World Cup championships, mentioned our EXTRA Moisturizing Balm to Town & Country as part of her slope-bound skincare routine. And when I heard Tracy Anderson, the much-buzzed about celebrity personal trainer (and dancer too), is also a fan of my personal favorites—Beach Fragrance and Shimmer Brick—I was totally flattered.

The athlete I’m most proud of counting as a BB fan? Hint: he loved our Lip Balm so much we named it after him.

Whenever I pull it out of my purse, it still makes me smile.
