How To Get Away

Memorial Day Getaway

It’s unofficially summer—my favorite season. I can’t wait to get started on a long weekend with my family and friends at the beach. Ready or not, bathing suit—here I come!

To make weekend getaway packing easy, I like to have a “Go Kit” prepared so that I can throw things together without having to think about it. Here are some of my ready-to-travel essentials:

BB Cream SPF 35: This 5-in-1 product is a great way to simplify your beauty routine–It evens out and protects skin and it’s a lightweight alternative to foundation.

Lip Balm and Lip Gloss: Two throw-on-and-go products that are formulated with lots of good-for-your-lips ingredients.

Illuminating Bronzing Powder: OK, no one has a summer tan yet! But you can still have a sun-kissed glow that will make you feel pretty and summery.

Extra Hand Cream: My hands are extra exposed in the summer—swimming, gardening, being in the sun—so I like to keep them soft and moisturized with this rich cream. It’s always in my bag.

Soothing Cleansing Oil: Since you’ll be layering sun block on your face over the course of the day, cleaning at night is extra important—this Cleansing Oil leaves your face feeling clean and smells fresh. My everyday cleanser.

Long-Wear Makeup: When you’re spending the day outside, the last thing you want to think about is touching up your makeup. I like to keep it simple with subtle, neutral, long-wearing shades — so that whatever I start with in the morning will still be there at night.

What’s in your “Go Kit”?

  1. Can I ask the color of the longwear eye shadow pictured above?

Karen, that is Bobbi’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Velvet Plum, a gorgeous rich shimmer bronze/plum shade. Find yours here:

  2. The cleansing oil is my skin life-saver! I recommend it to everyone who wants soft, fresh skin that isn’t stripped feeling.

  3. A wide brim hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen or other products with SPF like tinted moisturizer, lip balm or gloss for day. Mascara, a brighter lip gloss, and a shimmer brick for subtle evening glamour. Finally, a gentle cleanser to remove it all and a good lightweight night cream with antioxidants.

  4. I am currently pregnant delivering this very month of July. My confidence has dropped big big time, I heard from a friend that the bobby brown makeup is the best, I have never used makeup but would like to start using makeup to boost my confidence my question is, is there a complete set of the makeup with a how to apply makeup dvd, for a first time makeup user like me.
