Eyelash Curler

I’ve always believed in giving a woman the confidence and skills she needs to become her own makeup artist, and one of the key—and often-overlooked—elements of doing your makeup well is knowing how to use the tools that you apply product with. Most products are pretty simple to use, but it’s easy to make mistakes. In this series, I’ll try to give an easy break-down of how to properly use different tools. First up: eyelash curler.

How to Use Your Eyelash Curler

1.  Hold the eyelash curler in front of your eye, grab the lashes gently, press and curl. Hold for 15 seconds and then apply mascara. Your eyes will look awake and open.

2.  Always, always curl your eyelashes before you apply mascara so that your lashes don’t break—this is a mistake that I see women making all the time! Treat your lashes with a little TLC.

3.  The pads that line the inside of an eyelash curler are there to protect your lashes. If they start to wear out or break, you’ll have to replace them. Some eyelash curlers come with replacement pads, or you can easily buy a set at the drugstore.

4.  If you’re ever caught without and eyelash curler, apply mascara and then gently press lashes up with your fingertips as mascara dries. It’s not perfect, but it does the trick.

Bobbi

  1. Thank you for printing these steps. I purchased the eyelash curler a few months ago after years of avoiding it because I was afraid to use one. I have short eyelashes and have found that as a result of menopause, I have lost some as well. I have been using the curler and really appreciate the difference in the look of my lashes. I use the intensifying mascara and it really makes a difference. I am glad that I overcame my fear.

  3. I have found that a warm eye lash curler works better, but don’t use a hairdryer (and don’t want to burn my skin if the curler got too hot), so I place the eyelash curler somewhat in my armpit while I do the first part of my makeup. By the time I’m ready to curl lashes, my curler is warm and I swear it works better. (and feels good against my eyelids!)
