DIY Exfoliator

I wish I had time for a super-great facial. I always choose massage and exercise as my go-to indulgences. So, I came up with my own DIY version that can be really easily customized to fit your skin care needs and time constraints. I call it the “Cleansing Scrub.”

Some women favor chemical exfoliants like glycolic and salicylic acid, which work fine. Personally, I like to use a manual exfoliant, though I don’t love exfoliating beads as they’re not great for the environment. Buffing Grains—made from Japanese Adzuki beans—are natural and super-gentle, but leave your skin soft, smooth and glowing. I like to mix Buffing Grains in with Extra Bright Advanced Foaming Cleanser for a really luxurious exfoliant. It’s great because the Buffing Grains allow you to turn any daily cleanser into an exfoliator—I find that when I buy a separate exfoliating cleanser, I’m tempted to over use it. But making my own combination makes exfoliating feel like a special, twice a week spa treatment.

What weekly rituals make you feel pampered?

  1. That sounds like a great idea. I have always stayed away from exfoliating even though I know it is good for the skin because my skin is so dry. Is the foaming cleanser good for very dry skin?

Since rosacea is a medical condition, we suggest contacting your doctor for product recommendations first. We’re happy to provide any ingredient listings you may need simply by emailing us at [email protected]. A member of our team will be happy to personally assist.

  3. Love the BUFFING GRAINS, but not the packaging. Any way to make the container not glass and/or an easier way to pour only a small amount in my hand at a time?

We’ll definitely pass on your wishes, Libby. A great Bobbi tip-Try tipping the jar horizontal, then gently tap the bottom to dispense the perfect amount of Buffing Grains.
