A few years ago, I attended a concert hosted by Jazz House Kids—an incredible nonprofit organization that offers music training to kids from diverse backgrounds. All of the performers were students from the JFK School, a special needs public school in Newark. I was totally blown away by their talent and enthusiasm, and immediately knew I wanted to do something wonderful for them.
Three years later, Jazz House Kids and our Studio in Montclair got together to host “Something Wonderful“—a day of makeup, manicures, haircuts, and activities for 50 kids from the JFK School. The kids were so excited—watching them try on lipstick, check out their new haircuts and enjoy getting pampered felt so good. I hope it’s something we can continue every year.
