Summer Olympics Beauty, Inspired by the Champions

PotRouge2

Today, we’re not just anticipating the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games Rio 2016—we’re also celebrating the women competing in the Games, especially from Team USA. From 19-year-old gymnast Simone Biles to 32-year-old soccer player Ali Krieger (both of whom are making their Olympic debuts), these empowering women have inspired our daughters, sisters, mothers—and even our fathers, brothers, and sons.

To our delight, turns out some of our favorite athletes make a point to wear makeup while they’re competing. One of our favorites (and Bobbi Brown fan herself), U.S. Gymnastics captain Aly Raisman, wears a bit of eyeliner when she’s on the floor.  And runner Shannon Rowbury will cross the finish line with bright red lipstick. “You can be a strong, athletic, courageous woman and you can wear lipstick,” Rowbury has said.

Inspired by these Olympians, we’ve compiled our beauty picks for some of our favorite Summer Olympic sports. Whether you’re an avid golfer or you’ve just made a resolution to start running, these Bobbi Brown products will take you to the finish line.

Weightlifting (Bobbi’s current favorite way of working out)

No matter how many reps you do, keep your furrowed brows top notch. Long-Wear Brow Gel is a unique gel-wax formula that works as hard as you do, keeping your brows in place without melting or losing hold over time.

Track & Field

Like Shannon Rowbury, wear a signature color as you whiz by. Creamy Matte Lip Color is Shea butter-rich, so it nourishes your lips and stays put no matter how hard you sweat.

Golf

You’re going to be out in the sun for a long time, so wear the oil-free Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 for natural coverage and essential sun protection.

Equestrian

Smokey eye looks are popular on—and off—the equestrian competition circuit, and they’re especially easy to master with the Smokey Eye Kajal Liner, a blendable pencil that can be smudged onto the eyelid with the built-in liner after lining.

Gymnastics

What’s gymnastics without some glitter? Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow has glittering pigments and shimmering pearls to give you perfect 10 eye looks.

Rowing

Out on the water in spandex all day? The All Over Bronzing Gel SFP 15 not only gives you the perfect glow, but also provides extra sun protection.

Tennis

Serena Williams considers the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner to be her favorite liner, and we’re not surprised: it just as good on the tennis court as it does on the red carpet.

6

Cycling

The right mascara makes all the difference—a lot of cyclers choose waterproof makeup as their only beauty product on the road. No Smudge Mascara can be layered for a defined look without clumping.

7

Beach Volleyball

With all eyes on you, apply the Beach Shimmer Powder in Bikini Bronze shoulders, neck and décolleté for an alluring bronze glow and scent.

8

Sailing

When you’re out on a boat, you’re exposed to elements that can take their toll on skin. Hydrating Face Tonic adds a refreshing splash of soothing hydration to weatherworn skin.

Soccer

Teamwork is an important Olympic ethos—especially in soccer. Like perfectly in synch forwards, midfielders and defenders, our Radiant Glow Trio is a team of three skincare products that work together to revive your skin’s inner glow.

  1. According to most dermatologists, SPF 15 (as Bobbi recommends above) is not sufficient to protect against sun damage. It is also not a good idea to rely on SPF in makeup alone: it doesn’t get applied evenly over the face and I don’t know many women who wear foundation on their ears, necks and chests!! After several “brushes” w/ almost skin cancers in these areas, it’s important to stress that SPF 30 or higher (reapplied especially if outdoors) is necessary every day even it is raining….
