Celebrating World Book Day on my Shelf

World Book Day

Yes, I’m a makeup artist, mother, and businesswoman, but my curiosity for the world started with books. I love all sorts of books: novels, inspiring memoirs, beautiful coffee table books, and yes — even the occasional self-help book. (We all need some guidance in life, after all!) I myself have even written eight books on beauty and confidence, including Everything Eyes, which was on the New York Times bestseller list. I have to credit my talented co-writer, Sara Bliss, for teaching me about the art of narrative.

Writing a book is not easy, and we often forget that when we’re caught up in a well-written book that takes us to another place and time. While I’m all about the great visuals in my day-to-day life, I know there’s great power to words, too — it’s no surprise that the legendary Grace Coddington, who has crafted the most iconic editorials in Vogue, wrote one of my favorite memoirs, and that my friend Todd Selby produced one of my favorite illustrated collectibles. In honor of World Book Day, here are some of my most cherished books. What are your favorite books and which books should I add to my bookshelf this year?

XO,

Bobbi

  1. The two most memorable books I read in the last year were Cutting For Stone and The Rent Collector. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the authors of either books.
