Here at Bobbi Brown HQ, we’re all about healthy eating (with the occasional guilty treat thrown in, of course). Smoothies are in constant rotation and there’s never a morning when you don’t hear the Vitamix going in the communal kitchen. I hit up Danielle Diamond—my friend and expert on all things health and wellness—for her favorite smoothie recipe and she was more than happy to oblige. Check it out below and if you love it, there’s good news. This post is the first in a series by Danielle, who’s joining us as a guest contributor and sharing her favorite beauty food recipes, tips and ways to feel confident in mind and body.
Danielle Diamond’s Superfood Smoothie for Glowing Skin
I love smoothies. They’re quick and easy to make, and are a great way to fill up on nutrient dense, antioxidant packed superfoods that beautify inside and out. My favorite glow-inducing smoothie is packed with superfoods that boast multiple skin-saving benefits.
The motherload of antioxidants and minerals found in spinach help prevent inflammation and heal skin damage, while avocado supplies your skin with much-needed vitamin E to repair itself and stay hydrated. The raw walnuts are packed with omega 3 fatty acids, which help protect skin against damage from ultraviolet radiation (you can think of them as an added layer of edible sunscreen). Plus, if you’re not into “kale-tasting smoothies,” you’ll love the pineapple; packed with vitamin C, it’s key to the production of collagen and helps keeps skin firm. Use fresh or frozen pineapple and stay away from canned pineapple in syrup.
Whip this smoothie up for breakfast, as a pre or post workout snack, or to replace that sugar rush from an afternoon latte and brownie. I promise, your skin and brain will thank you!
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
- 1 cup coconut water or coconut milk
- ¼ ripe avocado, skinned and pitted
- 5 raw walnut halves
- ½ frozen banana
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- ice to taste
Add all ingredients to high-speed blender, and blend until completely combined.
Drink immediately or freeze into popsicles for a sweet treat.
Dear Ms Brown,
Please can you be more environmentally friendly ? I have a few of your Pot Rouge
lip colors and they come in nice containers with mirrors but I was wondering if you could make little refill tubs that could just fit into the containers ? This way we wouldn’t have so many containers going into the landfill.I’m sure this concept could be applied to many of your products.
I know you are very health conscious but whatever being concerned about our environment? I hope you will consider this idea seriously.
Thank you,
Sincerely
Vijy
